Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck By SUV At Long Island Intersection

A Long Island man was hospitalized in serious condition after being struck by an SUV driver crossing the road at a busy area intersection, police said.

Suffolk County Police detectives said that Bethpage resident Christopher Simon, age 25, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet SUV at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, when he struck a pedestrian at the intersection of West 4th Street and New York Avenue in Huntington Station.

Edwin Segura, age 39, of Huntington Station, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in serious condition, according to police.

Simon was uninjured, and his SUV was impounded for a safety check.
